"There's this whole fake persona of Hollyoaks girls being perfect and we're so not," she tells New!, adding that the idea of their video is to make exercise fun and accessible to everyone.
Jodi, who has always liked to dance to help her lose weight, had her first stab at fame at 15 when she joined Simon Cowell's band Girl Thing. They were dropped the same year as they released their debut single, but Jodi bounced back by landing the role of Debbie Dean in Hollyoaks in September 2002.
She quickly became a pin-up favourite, and was voted FHM's Sexiest Soap Star in 2004. So it's little wonder that she caught the eye of Westlife's Kian Egan, 24.
The couple met when Jodi was in Girl Thing, but they didn't get together until five years later - in 2003. Recently, Jodi admitted that the loved-up pair had been enjoying their festive food a bit too much during cosy nights in - but says she's determined to make sure that Kian keeps up with her on the fitness front.
"Kian reckons after Christmas he'll get his act together - and I'll make sure he gets a trainer and sticks to it. Come January, he's going to be in shape for his [February] tour."
Despite rumours they are engaged, there have also been whispers in the tabloids that Jodi's been enjoying secret love trysts with EastEnders actor Joe Swash and leaving Hollyoaks! New! grilled Jodi for the truth behind the headlines, and her diet and fitness secrets. You're releasing a fitness video. So, do you do a lot of exercise?
Us girls work hard, so we don't always get time to go to the gym. Our video's quite dance-orientated, although there aren't any hard moves. They're quite fun and we're not frightened to make a mistake. You don't have to be fit to do the Hollyoaks Dance Workout then?
No. And we're not preaching that we're fitness fanatics, either.
We're just normal girl. We've got imperfections on parts of our bodies we hate, but with TV, you can cover it up and say, "I don't feel comfortable showing that." Where does the extra weight go when you don't exercise?
It goes straight on my tummy - and my hips!
So even though it's hard, I have to put myself under a bit of pressure. What's your usual exercise routine, then?
I dance as much as I can at Pineapple Studios in London; I've done lots of different classes there, like Latin and hip-hop, but I haven't been in ages because I live in Liverpool. Dancing is a big passion. And because I love it I don't realise I'm exercising. Did your lose a lot of weight filming the video?
I definitely burned some calories! I hadn't exercised for so long, I felt quite fir afterwards. I didn't weigh myself, but I was more confident about my stomach. I could tell I'd lost weight just by looking at it. Do you ever go to the gym?
I go through phases. In the past, I've got into a routine of going three of four times a weel and spending 15-20 minutes on the running machine, going on the exercise bike, then doing bums and tums. But I find it so boring. I prefer to do classes.
Motivating myself to get there is the hardest thing, especially if I 've just got back from work and all I want to do is curl up on the sofa, watch Pretty Woman and eat chocolate! I can go for months without going because I've been so busy at work. Do you watch what you eat?
No, when it come to 4pm I'm like, "I need chocolate!" I've got such a sweet tooth. I can't avoid it - especially Galaxy. If I want something, I'll just eat it. What do you when you're watching your figure?
I love fruit. A lot of people find it difficult to eat - I don't! But I'm not very strict with myself. There are lots of rumours circling about you at the moment. You were pictures on Joe Swash's knee at the National TV Awards...
I'm glad that's come up. I've known Joe since I was 14 and he's a really good friends of mine. We were with the same acting agency, we always bumped into each other at different clubs and we have mutual friends. He's got such a cheeky personality that it's hard not to be friends with him. So what's really going on in those snaps?
We were bundled into a cab and it looks like I'm sitting on his lap. But I'm actually sitting forward in the car, between his legs, not on him. It still sounds pretty intimate!
Not with a friends - someone you don't think anything of. We were with a big group from EastEnders and I was holding my sister's hand! But if you were single, might there be a spark?
Not at all, no. Oh please don't let Joe read this! I look at him as a brother, not someone I fancy. How did Kian react?
He didn't even flinch. That night, I said to him, "The press were crazy!" They were particularly after a story that night. I'd look down there's be a camera under my skirt. But we've got such a strong relationship and we really trust each other because of what we do. I'm in a loving relationshop and I love Kian more than anything, so I wouldn't be that stupid. Do you get lonely when you're apart?
It is difficult and I don't think you ever get to a point where you're completely used to it. But I've been working on my career since I was 15, so I've never had a boyfriend who I see every day. Any plans to tie the knot?
I'm only a young girl and I've got so much stuff that I need to do in my life before I become a little housewife - that's going to be a long way off. Do you talk about marriage?
Of course, yeah. We're crazy about each other, so we like to think at some point in the future... but we're not anywhere near. It's funny how relationships happen so quickly in the press. In real life, you wouldn't date someone for a year-and-a-half then marry them, would you? That's how long me and Kian have been seeing each other. So how do you relax?
I'll go out with my boyfriend and the lads and their wives, having a laugh somewhere private. And when we're in Ireland, there are lots of cute pubs in Sligo that we go to and no one really blinks an eye altough they all know who Kian is. And I love nights out with the girls, having a laugh and dancing. Is it true that you're leaving Hollyoaks?
I can't really talk about that... Hmm, well, if you were planning to leave, would you consider music again?
I'd possibly go into music in the future - music is absolutely massive in my life, sso I'd never say never, but I wouldn't do it yet because it's clichéd. People have too much to say about soap stars turned singers! And I'd never do a band again because I've done it and I don't want to go backwards. So what's next for you?
There are a lot of things that I want to achieve in acting. I'd like to do more serious stuff - maybe dramas - stuff that puts me under pressure to become better at what I'm doing. Credit: New!
